Events in Lorient
Throughout the year, Lorient comes alive with numerous events. The most famous of these is the Interceltic Festival, which brings together more than 4,500 artists and nearly 950,000 visitors. 300 shows, concerts, competitions, and more take place over 10 days in the summer, making this festival unique!
In December, you can stroll through Lorient's Christmas market. Around 40 exhibitors present their products at several locations throughout the city.
Port Louis and its citadel
During your stay, we recommend a visit to Port-Louis. Admire its Citadel, built in the 17th century, which bears witness to the city's maritime and military history. With guided tours, permanent exhibitions, and events, it's a must-see!
For example, you can visit the East India Company Museum or the National Maritime Museum. Also, take the time to enjoy the panorama of the Pointe de Gâvres and the fishermen's houses of the port of Loc-Malo.
Lorient in History
The city of Lorient boasts a rich history and heritage. It offers a glimpse into its past through its iconic monuments. Built by the German occupation, the submarine base was originally used to maintain its fleet.
Today, a museum, cultural center, and nautical center, it's a must-see! Let yourself be carried away by the discovery of the Flore-S645 submarine. An interactive tour awaits you!
Beaches and water activities
There are many beaches accessible to you in and around Lorient. Surrounded by nature, ideal for water sports, with fine sand or pebbles, you'll find beaches to suit all tastes.
From your accommodation, you can go to Kerguelen beach (6.5km), Pérello beach (9.8km), Fort Bloqué beach (17km), Loc'h beach (17km), Port-Maria beach (5.4km), Locqueltas beach (6.8km), Kerpape beach (7.5km) and Nourriguel beach (5.3km).
Getaways to the Island of Groix
The Hôtel Les Océanes is located near the pier for the Île de Groix. An exceptional natural site, the island is full of walks to enjoy and viewpoints to admire.
