The City of Sailing Eric Tabarly

Events in Lorient

Throughout the year, Lorient comes alive with numerous events. The most famous of these is the Interceltic Festival, which brings together more than 4,500 artists and nearly 950,000 visitors. 300 shows, concerts, competitions and much more take place over 10 days in the summer, making this festival unique!

In December, stroll through the Lorient Christmas Market. Around forty exhibitors present their products in several locations throughout the city.

Port Louis and its citadel

During your stay, we recommend a visit to Port-Louis. Admire its citadel, built in the 17th century, a testament to the city's maritime and military history. With its guided tours, permanent exhibitions, and events, it's a must-see!

For example, you can visit the Museum of the East India Company or the National Maritime Museum. Also take the time to admire the panorama of the Pointe de Gâvres and the fishermen's houses of the Port of Loc-Malo.

Lorient in history

The city of Lorient boasts a rich history and heritage. It offers a glimpse into its past through its emblematic monuments. Built by the German occupation, the submarine base was originally used for the maintenance of its fleet.

Numerous beaches are accessible in Lorient and its surrounding areas. Immersed in nature, ideal for water sports, with fine sand or pebbles, you'll find beaches for all tastes.
