La Cité de la Voile in Lorient
With a hotel so close to the Cité de la Voile, you won't want to miss this not-to-be-missed event during your stopover in Lorient!
The origins of the Cité de la Voile
It was the story of the famous French yachtsman Éric Tabarly that inspired Lorient Agglomération and the association in tribute to Tabarly to create the Cité de la Voile in Lorient.
His ocean adventures, his victorious races and his love of technological innovation did not die with him in June 1998.
On the contrary, the two players in Breton tourism want to bear witness to a colourful life of sailing.
The Cité de la Voile museum opened its doors in 2008 at Lorient La Base. It is dedicated to sailing and ocean racing.
Visitors to the museum will discover exhibitions on the history of sailing, sailing simulators and sports facilities. The venue has quickly become an icon for sailing enthusiasts the world over.
It also regularly hosts competitions and events linked to the sport.
